We should value our senior citizens / Kaumatua more highly.

The old and frail may look uninteresting but ask them about random topics and they could tell you a book’s long speech about it. In New Zealand, we should value the older generation much higher than we do. They are wise, know ways of doing things that are better than the original way and some served our country in the World Wars.

Our senior citizens are very wise. They know how to sort problems because they have most probably already been through that certain predicament. You could go to them for either advice or even if you just want to learn about something. Like if you needed help with an issue you're having with your friend they could give you advice on how to resolve it if it’s really weighing on your mind that much. As I was saying, they are very knowledgeable.

They know how to do things that are a lot better than you originally do them. Usually, come out with better results too. Like how some families have family recipes which taste way better than how it’s supposed to be made. They are very convenient like that.

Some fought in the wars for us. Made our nation proud. They could have died for our country and us, as the future tamariki of Aotearoa, and we should praise them for their accomplishments. During the wars was a dangerous era to live in.

We should value senior citizens higher than we do now. they are very intelligent, very helpful and very courageous. Who knows? maybe one day you could enlighten your future generations on the dramatical events in your life.
