Breaking copyright to download music is not really a crime.
Everyone listens to music and I bet the majority of the people who are, copyrighted the tracks off the internet. I think breaking copyright to download music is not really a crime. A lot of people copyright music because there are a lot of servers that make it easy for us to and if we were charged with copyright then a majority of young people would be charged. Also listening to music calms some people and controls their attitudes but a negative point is that the artists making the works also deserve to be paid.
It is very easy to download music to your phone. Using data when you don’t have wifi takes up a lot of gigabytes. I know an alternative for music is paying for Spotify, to listen offline, but some people either can’t be bothered or just can’t. For example, if Beyonce brought out this new banger that you absolutely love, listening to it whenever you can is extremely convenient. Therefore, downloading music shouldn’t be a crime since, for most people, music is a necessity in their everyday life.
Since you should be charged for copyright because of illegally downloading music tracks then most of the adolescence in schools would be charged. I know multiple people who download music through servers and they haven’t been charged yet for copyright so is it really a crime? A multitude of teenagers would be charged and wouldn’t be able to pay for the charge which leaves us at a major loss unless our parents pay for it or some of us have a job, which is hard to acquire these days considering that some of us may be too young for a job.
I know, whenever I listen to music I feel what I’m listening to. To expand on that I mean, listening to certain genres will make us feel, as in emotion wise, what is being said or played. For instance, if you were listening to Jocelyn Flores by xxxTentacion you would feel grief or sadness, or if you were listening to I like it by Cardi B, Bad bunny and J Balvin you would feel high in spirits and very active. Because I know I do! Other than that listening to music is beneficial for many people since it somewhat helps them with what they’re feeling and could be a coping mechanism for themselves.
But through all these positive points there is a negative and that is why copyrighting music online is actually illegal. It is because you are basically stealing the artist's product from them. How are they meant to get paid if everyone is not paying for their product? I still agree that downloading music isn’t really a crime but we, or I, still need to consider the hard-working artists that are creating our therapeutic harmonies.
Downloading music isn’t really a crime to me. All the easy access servers, the large mass of adolescence that could possibly be charged, and how therapeutic music is are my reasons for agreeing with this statement. But I still had to include that what we are doing is somewhat wrong, in the eyes of the world, but to us, it is immensely beneficial. Music is a big factor of this world and I don’t think that slice of the social world will ever die.
