Prompt; I didn’t mean to kill her.

“I didn’t mean to kill her..” His words were dragged out in sarcasm which made my blood boil. “Oh wait.. Yes I did! HAHAHA” His roaring laugh reminded me of the joker. Even his sadistic nature did. “I set up a little game for you Lieutenant..” Anger and little mix of fear filled my being. “It’s called ‘Find Susie’s body’.. ‘Pieces’. I think the game clarifies itself by its name. Don’t ya think Lieutenant?” My eyes grew wide in horror. He’s the most despicable and disgusting person i’ve had the displeasure of meeting. “Where is she?” I snarled into the device on my ear. “Oh.. Little bit everywhere. Y’know a toe here. A eyeball there. Really you won’t even know it’s her! Haha” His chuckle sent a shiver down my spine. Suddenly I felt like I was being watched causing the hairs at the back of my neck to prick. “Lieutenant your time’s coming soon. Don’t get jealous.”

I could sense them closing in. Their heavy footsteps and a waft of tobacco and alcohol filled my nostrils. I instantly went for my gun sitting in the back of my pants. And they advanced as soon as my hand went down. There were 3. One to the left, one to the right and one right in front. We were exchanging punches and kicks until I rammed one’s head into the alleyway wall. Knocking him out instantly. The other got mad and abit too cocky screaming that he was going to kill me until I shot him in the head and the other came to his senses and fled.

“Your lackeys have failed you again.” Silence was at the other end until. “Oh Lieutenant. Those weren’t mine. These ones are.” I instantly put my guard back up and heard the low hum of an idle car and the end of the alleyway. I went to dash the other way until I noticed another one. These ones had a different approach. They came one by one.

We started brawling until I put him in a choke hold and gripped the smooth metal of my gun and aimed it to his head. The others seeing this caused them to back away to their cars. I spoke into the earpiece “Call your men off or i’ll kill him. I know your watching.” I searched the walls and saw a little red light next to a cctv camera. The next words that he said disgusted me. “Kill him.” The man started trembling and said “But M-master?” “Don’t master me. You got yourself in that position it’s your fault.” I then pulled the trigger. And this time. They all ran towards me.

DNA Extraction

In Science we got offered to design an experiment. The experiment was to be based around DNA and how you can extract it.

Extract DNA from a Strawberry:

AIM:
The purpose of this experiment is to find the DNA of a strawberry. Strawberries are easy to manipulate and contain a large amount of genome. Strawberries have an octoploid genome, meaning the nucleus has eight copies of each chromosome. In saying that the chromosomes located in the nucleus allows us to extract the DNA inside of it.

Image result for dna of a strawberryMETHOD:
Using the alcohol extraction method, to find the DNA, will make it visible to the naked eye.
Add water, dish soap and salt to create the mixture to help break down the cells wall is the strawberry. Then add the strawberry is to a plastic bag, then add the wet solution to it. Remove as mush air as you can and then start compressing it. Do that until there are no big pieces. Using a strainer will help separate the liquids from the solids. Using a spoon press to gently to extract any liquid left. Transfer that solution to a smaller beaker and add iced Isopropyl alcohol. The DNA will then be visible in the layer of Isopropyl alcohol.

EQUIPMENT:
Dish soap - 10ml
Beaker(small), Test tube
Plastic Bag
Strainer
Tweezers
Strawberries - one or two
Measuring Cups/Spoons
Salt - 1/4 Tsp
Isopropyl Alcohol - 5ml
Water - 90ml

RESULT:
We ended up finding strands from a banana

A slice of loneliness

My unfocused hazel eyes lay upon the shattered mirror. Staring at the irony of how that completely explains how I feel. Broken beyond repair. Constantly loneliness creeps into my thoughts and plagues it until it turns the sky turns dark grey. Funny because the weatherman said it was going to be sunny today.

Guess he was lying. Like everyone else. I’m used to people, that I become attached to, leave. I’m never good enough for people to stay. My eyes then detect some splotches of red staining my knuckles. The thick crimson liquid ran down my arm and dropped to the porcelain tiles. Weird.. It looks like it hurts but I don’t feel any pain.

Guess i’ve hurt so much i’ve come accustomed to pain like its an old friend. Just like my other friends in my head. They tell me what’s good for me and every single negative outcome when it comes to interaction, which instantly makes me change my mind.

People call me ‘anti-social nerd’ or ‘freak’ and other disrespectful names that hurt too much to repeat. But really I don’t want to become attached to someone in fear that they will leave me.. Again.

I sigh then drudge out of the small bathroom and somehow make it to the couch and stare at the static television. This small broken down apartment was all I could afford as my parents past away when I was 7 leaving me in the infinite system of foster care. By moving around so much I learnt to never get my hopes up for anything. None of the parents wanted me and I kept moving until I was an adult. I'm 19 now barely living off the benefit, living in a run down apartment complex, and attending a community college. I’ve got to say this is one of my good days.

Animal

As I camouflaged with the pale earth, my eyes scouted for lunch. There. A gazelle peacefully going in for a fresh mouthful of water. I hunched closer to the ground to prevent myself from being seen.

As I slowly closed in for the kill, its head sprung up in alert which made me freeze. Sensing no danger it went back down for a drink which gave me enough time to pounce on it. My large canines dug into its skin. It screeched in its own language.

The feeling of fresh blood poured down my throat, that raised my adrenaline. It made a noise again as I sunk my claws into its side, which stained them crimson, then with one yank of my head the gazelle was headless. I spat the head out of my mouth and started ferociously biting into the tough muscle, which easily tore under my fangs.

My white face was now stained red from my lunch but a white tigers gotta eat.

Back in time

I awoke on a wood floor. As I was adjusting to my surroundings I noticed a man and a woman both looking at me quizzically. The man had a grey beard and a small hat on his head. His wrinkles showed his age. In his hand he had a paintbrush and infront of him was an easel. But it looked very old. With a half finished portrait of the woman in front. The woman that he was painting had long dark hair and fair skin. With a flowing dress that looked very old fashioned. So did his clothes. So did the house.. Then it clicked. My eyes widened and I kept stuttering. Until “I DID IT!!” came out of my mouth. I was in the middle of Leonardo Da Vinci painting the priceless painting ‘the mona lisa’.

Cloning

Cloning is a very delicate and careful process. This process is called the 'somatic cell nuclear transfer'. First you remove a skin cell, that is containing all 46 chromosomes, from the male donor. Then you remove a single egg cell, that has 23 chromosomes, from the female donor. Then using a micro pipette you remove the nuclei from both cells. The nucleus from the male donor will then be carefully inserted into the egg cell and now it has all the genes to create a 'clone' of the male donor. Finally the egg cell will be surgically inserted into the donors womb. After 9 months a baby clone will be made.

This will only be used if cloning gets accepted by society and the government. Some countries even banned the use of cloning for the purpose of producing human babies. Most scientists have agreed that cloning will work on humans as well as animals. (Eg; 'Dolly' the sheep, the first cloned animal.) However researchers have no interest on cloning humans.

At the moment there have been 2 bouncing monkeys that have been cloned. Zhong Zhong and Hua Hua. Heres what, Director of the institute of Neuroscience at the Chinese Academy of science, Mu-Ming Poo said about cloning -'I would think that society, the general public and the government will not allow the extension of application of these methods from non-human primates to human'. There goal for cloning animals is to introduce genetic mutations of the same sort that cause human diseases, such as Parkinson's.

My personal thoughts on cloning is that it shouldn't be used but only in desperate measures. Like cloning a army so family don't have to risk there lives is very bad if it falls into the wrong hands.

Heart Attack

What is a heart attack?
A heart attack is when blood vessels that supply blood to the heart are blocked, preventing enough oxygen from getting to the heart. The coronary arteries bring blood and oxygen to the heart. If the blood flow is blocked, the heart is starved of oxygen and heart cells will die. In atherosclerosis, plaque builds up in the walls of the coronary arteries. This plaque is made up of cholesterol and other cells.

The causes of heart attacks and how to prevent one:
Most heart attacks are caused by a blood clot that blocks one of the coronary arteries. To prevent heart attacks exercise daily or several times a week. Walking is a good form of exercise. Talk to your doctor before starting an exercise routine.

Symptoms and treatment of a heart attack:
Chest pain is a major symptom of heart attacks. You may also feel pain in only one part of your body, or it may move from your chest to your arms, shoulder, neck, teeth, jaw, belly area or back. To treat it the victim will be connected to an ECG machine so the health team can look at how their heart is beating.
